The Iyengar method of Yoga is named after our teacher Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar, one of the most influential gurus of our time. The teaching helps you focus on correct alignment of the body whilst in poses ensuring you’re working safely, with maximum benefit to your flexibility, strength and wellbeing. Classes are sequenced and progressive, they begin with quiet sitting to prepare for practice followed by poses aimed to mobilise, open and activate the body and quieten the brain. Most classes include standing postures that teach you how to adjust and align the body. When the body is aligned with precision, the breath is balanced bringing harmony to the mind, emotions and senses. In the intermediate classes poses are held longer to pay closer attention to the precise musculoskeletal alignment within each asana and include more advanced postures.
